A horrifying and beautiful mushroom
The Mushroom is a radial play with spokes pointing outward, an explosion of spores in the form of an evening at the theater and a pageant that gives a micro view of the forest floor. It has to do with awe and decadence and the question: "What knows it's alive?" It has writing, design and direction by Normandy Sherwood, choreography and direction by Nikki Calonge and sound by Craig Flanagin.
The Mushroom is being developed as a part of the New Georges Audrey Residency and has been supported by The Foundation for Contemporary Art’s Creative Research Grant, A.R.T./ NY’s Creative Opportunity Fund, and of course Materials For The Arts.
